Formed in 1979 to save the old MKT depot from being destroyed; this 501(c)3 organization successfully completed that project and for almost three decades has continued preservation work in the Katy area. The Katy Heritage Society is grateful to our members and for the community support that has allowed us to continue to protect and preserve the historic resources of Katy for the use, education, enjoyment and economic benefit of present and future generations. We invite you to visit our historic homes in Katy Heritage Park on George Bush Drive and our Caboose and MKT museum in the depot at Railroad Park on First Street.

Carol has dedicated almost three decades toward the work of historical conservation and heritage preservation. Her work began in the late 1970’s in the Houston Heights. When the Adams' moved to Katy in 1992, Carol retired from a career in commercial property development and volunteered her time to schools and local charitable groups before she became president of the Katy Heritage Society in 2001. She lead that group to develop a partnership with the City of Katy and build Katy Heritage Park. For her work with the society; Carol was named Volunteer of the Year by the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce for 2003, received her second Good Brick Award from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance in 2006 and was recognized by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution with their Historic Preservation medal in 2007. Carol was elected as a Councilmember for the City of Katy in 2008.
